Privacy Policy for Wame X
Foundation
1. Introduction & Core Philosophy
Welcome to Wame X (also known as Wamex: Recover Deleted Messages / Wame X: Notification Vault), an offline notification history organizer and message recovery utility developed by Mobo Devs ("we", "us", or "our").
We believe that your personal communications, notification alerts, and chat media belong exclusively to you. Wame X was designed and engineered from the ground up around a single, foundational principle: Zero Off-Device Data Egress.
This Privacy Policy explains in transparent, unambiguous detail how Wame X handles data, what permissions are required to operate its features, how your privacy is protected on-device, and the limited third-party advertising services utilized to support the application.
Privacy Architecture
2. The Zero-Egress Guarantee: What Stays on Your Device
Unlike cloud-based backup solutions or surveillance applications, Wame X does NOT operate external servers to store, process, or analyze your personal communications.
- No Cloud Sync: Your messages, contact names, notification text, and media files are stored 100% locally on your physical device.
- Zero Personal Data Transmission: We do not transmit, upload, sell, rent, or mirror any chat contents, sender identities, phone numbers, or media files to our servers, third-party databases, or cloud providers.
- No User Accounts: You do not need to register, log in, or provide an email address, telephone number, or password to use Wame X.
-
Network Security Restrictions: The application manifest strictly enforces network security with cleartext HTTP traffic prohibited (
cleartextTrafficPermitted="false"). TheINTERNETpermission is utilized solely by Google's Mobile Ads SDK to serve advertisements and check network connectivity for ad delivery.
Local Data Processing
3. Data We Process Locally on Your Device
3.1. Notification Content & Metadata
- What is Processed: When an app monitored by you (such as WhatsApp™ or WhatsApp Business™) generates a system notification, Wame X reads the notification bundle containing the sender alias or display name, group name, text message body, timestamp, and package identifier.
- Purpose: To index notifications in a searchable local vault so that you can view your notification history and read messages that were sent to you even if the sender subsequently removes them using "Delete for Everyone" features.
-
Storage & Encryption: All captured notification records are stored in an encrypted SQLite database (
vault.db) powered by SQLCipher (AES-256). The 256-bit encryption key is dynamically derived using the hardware-backed Android KeyStore, protecting your records against unauthorized access or file extraction.
3.2. Media Attachments & Voice Notes
- What is Processed: Inline notification thumbnail previews and incoming media files accessed via user-granted Storage Access Framework (SAF) folder permissions.
-
Purpose: To allow you to preview photos and listen to voice notes (
.opusaudio) saved in your vault. -
Storage & Encryption: All media files captured by Wame X are encrypted using AES-256-GCM with unique 12-byte initialization vectors (IVs) and stored exclusively in Wame X's private internal storage directory (
context.filesDir/vault_media). Decrypted media is never saved in public or unencrypted shared storage.
3.3. Biometric & Authentication Data
- What is Processed: If you enable the in-app App Lock feature, Wame X invokes the official Android BiometricPrompt API.
- Privacy Assurance: Wame X never has access to your raw biometric data, fingerprints, or PIN codes. All biometric processing is performed exclusively by the Android OS Trusted Execution Environment (TEE).
Advertising & Analytics
4. Third-Party Services & Advertising (Google AdMob)
Wame X is supported by in-app advertising provided by Google AdMob. To serve contextual, personalized, or non-personalized ads and detect fraud, Google's SDK automatically collects specific non-identifying technical data:
-
Device & Other IDs: Android Advertising ID (
AD_ID) and diagnostic identifiers. - Network & Coarse Location: Approximate location derived from IP address (city/country level).
- App Performance & Diagnostics: Crash logs, ad interaction metrics (impressions, clicks), and network connection state.
Consent Management Platform (Google UMP SDK)
For users residing in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom (UK), and Switzerland, Wame X integrates the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK supporting IAB TCF v2.2/v2.3. You can change or revoke your advertising consent preferences at any time by navigating to:
Wame X Settings → PRIVACY & PERMISSIONS → Ad Privacy Choices.
Android Permissions
5. Android OS Permissions & Why We Need Them
- No broad storage permissions: We do NOT request
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE,WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, orMANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE. - No Foreground Services: We do NOT request
FOREGROUND_SERVICE. - No Sensitive Hardware Access: We do NOT request Precise Location, Contacts, Camera, or Microphone permissions.
Retention & Deletion
6. Data Retention & User Deletion Rights
- Configurable Retention Policies: Choose automatic cleanup after 7, 14, 30, 90 days, or Forever in Wame X Settings.
- Instant Complete Data Wipe: Tap "Delete All Data" in Settings to instantly truncate the database and recursively delete all media files.
-
Uninstall Cleanup: Because all data is stored in private internal storage and cloud backup is excluded (
android:allowBackup="false"), uninstalling Wame X permanently and irreversibly erases all saved messages and encryption keys.
